College partnership with coding bootcamp to benefit Johoreans seeking AI, cybersecurity skills
Students in Johor are expected to benefit greatly from a collaboration between Southern University College (SUC) and coding school 42 Iskandar Puteri on technology education initiatives.
The memorandum of understanding signed by both parties seeks to assure students of greater career inclusivity by focusing on cybersecurity, artificial intelligence (AI), motion design, software and web development skills through workshop collaborations.
SUC president and chief executive officer Prof Dr Chuah Joon Huang emphasised the significance of the collaboration to offer students the opportunity to gain both technical and soft skills.
“We believe in continuous innovation in education and this partnership with 42 Iskandar Puteri enables us to offer students more opportunities to develop critical thinking skills while fostering a culture of creativity and inclusiveness.
“By combining the strengths of both institutions, we are shaping a generation of highly skilled digital talent,” he said after the signing ceremony at SUC in Skudai.
Prof Chuah added that the partnership was not only timely but also crucial in bridging the gap between education and employability, ensuring that students graduate with the skills needed to succeed.
Meanwhile, 42 Malaysia chief operating officer Jeff Sandhu highlighted the organisation’s dedication to reimagining education and its mission to train 10,000 highly skilled digital talents by 2033.
“42 Iskandar Puteri will always offer such programmes and you have everything to gain by joining them.
“With flexible schedules and zero fees, the campus equips learners with future-ready skills regardless of their academic background,” Sandhu said
He added that 42 Iskandar Puteri’s latest tuition-free Python and AI Discovery Boot Camp had attracted over 350 participants ranging in age from 17 to 74.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by Johor Strategic Human Capital Unit general manager Herman Raban, who also represented state education and information committee chairman Aznan Tamin.
42 Iskandar Puteri is part of 42 Malaysia, a nation-building initiative under Sunway Education Group and Khazanah Nasional Bhd that aims to develop 10,000 skilled tech talents by the year 2033.
The 42 programme is also part of a global movement with a network of 57 campuses in over 30 countries.
