Stock market update: Sugar stocks up as market rises

Synopsis

The 30-share BSE Sensex closed up 1310.11 points at 75157.26

NEW DELHI: Sugar shares closed higher in the Friday's session.

Dalmia Bharat Sugar and Industries Ltd.(up 4.97%), Triveni Engineering & Industries Ltd.(up 4.42%), Magadh Sugar & Energy Ltd.(up 4.40%), Bajaj Hindusthan Sugar Ltd.(up 3.76%), EID Parry(India)Ltd.(up 3.70%), Shree Renuka Sugars Ltd.(up 3.30%), Dwarikesh Sugar Industries Ltd.(up 2.86%), Ponni Sugars(Erode)Ltd.(up 2.65%), KM Sugar Mills Ltd.(up 2.65%) and Rajshree Sugars & Chemicals Ltd.(up 2.59%) stood among the top gainers.

Simbhaoli Sugars Ltd.(down 1.12%) and Bannari Amman Sugars Ltd.(down 0.46%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 429.4 points up at 22828.55, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed up 1310.11 points at 75157.26.

Hindalco Industries Ltd.(up 6.44%), Tata Steel Ltd.(up 4.91%), JSW Steel Ltd.(up 4.73%), Coal India Ltd.(up 4.68%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd.(up 3.8%), Adani Enterprises Ltd.(up 3.78%), Grasim Industries Ltd.(up 3.66%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.(up 3.65%), Trent Ltd.(up 3.48%) and Cipla Ltd.(up 3.36%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd.(down 0.78%), Asian Paints Ltd.(down 0.73%) and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(down 0.47%) closed in the red.
