Omya has announced that it has finished the first phase of revitalising its agricultural minerals facility in Eastern Kansas, US, anchoring its plan to expand its offerings in the Midwest region.
With this completed renovation, Omya has built a foundation for its long term plan to offer granulated fertilizer products to Midwest and Great Plains farmers across the US, while expanding to serve customers in markets such as row and specialty crops, turfgrass, and the home retail industry.
With the modernisation of its Midwest, US, granulation facility, Omya is prepared to expand to serve new US markets. The renovated plant also offers a new level of product quality and service to the Midwest, US, agricultural sector.
The company acquired the Wathena plant, Kansas, US, in 2022 with plans to revitalise it to produce specialty fertilizer products made from limestone, gypsum, and dolomitic lime.
Various facility upgrades entailed the following areas: new quality control laboratory space, dust removal equipment, feed controls, screens for controlling granulated product size, among others.
“Omya Kansas is positioned to provide soil health and nutrient management options to growers across the region for years to come," said Olav Bergset, Director of Operations at the plant.
With this first phase of the renovation completed, Omya Kansas is planning additional upgrades to the facility beginning in 2025 as the company continues its Midwest, US, expansion.Read the article online at: https://www.worldfertilizer.com/project-news/10042025/omya-completes-revitalisation-of-fertilizer-granulation-plant/
