CenterPoint Energy completes sale of Louisiana, Mississippi gas utilities to Bernhard Capital

- CenterPoint Energy has finalized the sale of its natural gas distribution utilities in Louisiana and Mississippi.
- Bernhard Capital Partners acquired the utilities, which serve approximately 380,000 customers.
- Delta Utilities, based in New Orleans, will now manage services for former CenterPoint customers.
CenterPoint Energy announced Tuesday morning that the company has successfully completed the sale of its natural gas distribution utilities in Louisiana and Mississippi.
Bernhard Capital Partners purchased the natural gas distribution utilities, which consist of approximately 12,000 miles of main pipeline in Louisiana and Mississippi serving approximately 380,000 metered customers.
Customers will now be serviced by Delta Utilities, which is based in New Orleans.
“I would like to thank our Louisiana and Mississippi employees and those that support these businesses for their dedication to customer service and quality,” Jason Wells, CenterPoint president and CEO said in a news release on CenterPoint's website. “We will continue to support Delta Utilities toward a smooth transition for the benefit of the customers served in those jurisdictions.”
According to CenterPoint, Delta Utilities immediately will assume responsibility for serving CenterPoint’s former customers in Louisiana and Mississippi.
