Several East Texas boys basketball players received recognition from the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches.
Martin’s Mill’s state championship duo of Jak Kinder and Archer Schneider were both all-state picks in Class 2A.
Kinder averaged 18.3 points, 3.8 assists, 3.4 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game. He made 169 3-pointers this season, giving him 631 for his career, which set the four-year national high school record. Schneider averaged 18.3 points and 5.9 rebounds per game.
Also earning all-state honors in Class 2A were LaPoynor’s Cort Reid, Gary’s Mason Powell and Shelbyville’s DJ Barnes.
Reid averaged 31.5 points, 6.7 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 2.5 steals per game.
Tatum’s state championship trio of JaCorie Bradley, Luke Sigler and Jordan Chambers earned all-state honors in Class 3A.
Also earning all-state honors for Class 3A was Palestine Westwood’s Kavian Bryant and
Lufkin junior Austin Brown, a four-star recruit, earned all-state honors in Class 5A.
Class 1A all-state selections were Wells’ Roy Gardner, Brookeland’s Landon Smith and Cade Morgan and Kennard’s DeVant’e Toliver.
Bishop Gorman’s Jaylon Miles was an all-state pick by the TABC for mid-size private schools.
Tyler Legacy’s Ja’Corian Oes was an all-region pick for Class 6A Region 2.
Lufkin’s Brown and Mount Pleasant’s Carter Chism and Reggie Webster were selected in Class 5A Region 2.
All-Region selections in Class 4A Region 2 were Chapel Hill’s Marquis Collins II, Athen’s E’Manuel Moore, Brownsboro’s Mann Scott, Canton’s Kaden Smith and Paris’ Jaydrien Henderson. All-region selections in Class 4A Region 3 were Bullard’s Layne Alexander and Hudson’s Cooper Weeks.
Selections in Class 3A Region 2 were Tatum’s Bradley, Chambers and Sigler; Atlanta’s Aiden Boston; Troup’s Caden Graves; Jefferson’s Travis Gray and Chris Love; Liberty-Eylau’s Tyrese Harris; Hooks’ Fabean Grigsby; Edgewood’s Tony Smith; Paris Chisum’s Thomas Thiessen; and Mount Pleasant Chapel Hill’s Jace Sullivan. Westwood’s Bryant, Crockett’s Jayvon Bedford, Pollok Central’s Jake Matthews and Central Heights’ Garner Rodriguez were selected in Class 3A Region 3.
Martin’s Mill’s Kinder, Schneider and Ryder Marsh were all selected in Class 2A Region 3. Also selected in the region were LaPoynor’s Reid and Zade Howard; Hawkins’ Derek Hollman; Shelbyville’s Barnes and Ja’Davian Mathis; Frankston’s Jake Westbrook; Gary’s Powell; Douglass’ Cayson Bendy; Timpson’s JJ Garner; Grapeland’s Rickie Gilmore and Sean Walker; and Tenaha’s Ja’Torian Moore.
Slocum’s Carter Sbrusch was on the Class 1A Region 3 team. In Class 1A Region 4 were Wells’ Gardner; Kennard’s Toliver and Deuce Harrell; Centerville’s Jake Slaten and Kolt Larsen; Broaddus’ Kingston Sanders; and Brookeland’s Smith and Morgan.
