Highlights and goals of Montenegro 3-1 Gibraltar in 2026 World Cup Qualifiers

The substitutes of both teams are already warming up, let's see if they can be the difference maker for their teams later on.

MONTENEGRO 1-1 GIBRALTAR

After recovering the ball in their own half, they went on the counter, but a great save on the line by a defender prevented a second. Jovetic wanted his second of the night but Gibraltar don´t allowed it. 

The post helped to prevent a great shot from ending in a goal, after a free kick that ended in a great cross, the ball reached one of the Gibraltar attackers, he took a great shot but the post prevented us from shouting 2 for 1. 

Direct free kick for Gibraltar. Just outside the box a free kick was awarded, it was a chance to take the lead but the shot went wide of the goal. Gibraltar insist for the second go, but it doesn't arrive 

Now the visitors are the ones who propose dangerous plays, but they can't manage to score. It has been lively for both teams, but after the equalizer, Gibraltar has taken control of the action, fighting hard for the ball in midfield. 

The equalizer came. Stefan Jovetic, the one who tried the most, scored the 1 to 1. After a series of rebounds, the ball was left to him and he took a great shot with his left foot that ended up in the goal.

The Montenegro team is looking for the equalizer, they continue to control the ball and generate dangerous plays but so far they fail to connect in a big way. Jovtic has crossed his shot wide on two occasions. 

The first goal of the match was scored. After a corner kick, Montenegro's goalkeeper fails to save the ball and Dan Bent finds the ball and pushes it in.

When no one expected it, the goal was scored. 1-0 GIBRALTAR WINS IT

Montenegro dominate the ball from side to side, they have even had dangerous chances in front of goal, but the crossbar and the defense have not allowed the guest of the match to arrive.

Montenegro had the chance to score the first goal, it was close to score the first goal of the match.
Montenegrin captain Jovetić received a great cross and headed but the crossbar said no.

Stevan Jovetić

Stevan Jovetić is undoubtedly the most outstanding player of the Montenegro national team and its main reference in attack. Born on November 2, 1989 in Podgorica, this striker has had a prolific career in European soccer, passing through renowned clubs such as Fiorentina, Manchester City, Inter Milan, Sevilla and AS Monaco. 
He is the top scorer in his country's history with 36 goals in 83 games, consolidating himself as the team's offensive reference. He currently plays for Omonia Nicosia in the Cyprus First Division and has 6 goals and 4 assists in 20 games played this season.

This match will mark the third time that the teams of Gibraltar and Montenegro will meet in an official duel. The record favors the Montenegrin national team, as in their two previous encounters, both played in the framework of the Qatar 2022 World Cup Qualifiers, they managed to win. In the first match, held in Montenegro, the home team dominated with a convincing 4-1 win, while in the second leg, played in Gibraltar, they repeated their superiority with a final score of 3-0.

In the most recent Nations League, they only managed to beat Turkey 3-1. Their other results were all defeats against Iceland, Wales and Turkey.
