Netflix Adolescence actor Owen Cooper recalls 'disgusting' detail from filming intense episode

Adolescence's third episode has been raved about by viewers and critics, but Owen Cooper was left unimpressed by one 'disgusting' detail.

Millions of Netflix subscribers have been gripped by chilling new crime drama Adolescence, which is currently topping the streamer's most-watched chart.

The four-part series, which is filmed in one take, follows the Miller family, whose lives are destroyed when their 13-year-old son Jamie is accused of murdering a classmate.

Written by Stephen Graham and Jack Thorne, the show does not offer viewers a typical 'whodunnit' storyline but instead covers the societal influences that could have led to the heinous crime.

During the third episode, Jamie sits down with psychologist Briony Ariston (Erin Doherty), who is tasked with evaluating the teen's behaviour. At the beginning of the episode, she notably pours him a cup of hot chocolate, which he gleefully accepts.

While the episode has been named as a standout from the series by fans and critics alike, Cooper has revealed one 'disgusting' detail about filming the tense instalment.

Doherty and Cooper recently sat down for an interview with Netflix and broke down the entire one-hour episode shot by shot.

As they tuned in, the 15-year-old star interrupted the scene of Jamie taking a sip of the hot chocolate and shared: "That was minging that."

He continued: "That was horrible"

According to the actor, the drink "wasn't hot chocolate. It had to get changed." Cooper went on to explain that real hot chocolate had been making the floor 'sticky' for the camera crew, who were filming in one continuous shot.

Doherty then jumped in, saying: "Oh yeah, and I remember in one [take] it spilled all over the table. I could see people in the cameras, that could see into the room, quickly trying to clean it up before the camera came back."

"Oh it was disgusting," the teen star concluded.
