Netflix Games announced Wednesday that it will release its first massively multiplayer online game, called Spirit Crossing, later this year. Award-winning studio Spry Fox developed the visually intriguing cozy game for the streaming service.
Netflix says the game is a massively cooperative life sim, and that the game was designed to encourage friendship to make the world feel less lonely. You can journey through ever-changing environments, spreading kindness to the folks you meet along the way.
If you're not big into adventuring, you'll be able to build and decorate your own home and village for you and your friends to stay in. You'll gather resources with your friends to nurture your community, but don't forget to make time for jam sessions with your pals to unwind.

Spry Fox is known for Cozy Grove and Alphabear, which won the 2016 Google Play Award for Best Standout Indie game. Netflix acquired Spry Fox in 2022 as part of the streaming giant's push into mobile gaming. Spry Fox released Cozy Grove: Camp Spirit in 2024 on Netflix Games, the first game the studio released after the acquisition.
Spirit Crossing marks a big step for Netflix Games since this will be the platform's first MMO game. And the move could be profitable for the streamer.
According to the research company Market Research Future, the MMO games market is predicted to grow from $33.5 billion in 2025 to $52.7 billion in 2034. The company writes that the proliferation of mobile devices will likely help get more MMOs in people's hands, giving the MMO market a boost. If Spirit Crossing is successful, it could give Netflix Games a financial boost, especially after the company canceled a handful of mobile game releases.
Here's how you can access the games in Netflix's library
1. Download the Netflix app onto your iPhone, iPad or Android device.
2. Open the Netflix app and sign in to your account.
3. Tap Home across the bottom of your screen.
4. Scroll down your homepage until you see the Mobile Games carousel.
5. Tap into a game to learn more about it.
6. Tap Play Game to download a game you're interested in.
Then follow the on-screen prompts to download the game.
You can also search for a specific game in the Netflix app by tapping the magnifying glass in the top right corner of the app and entering the game's name.
