NEW GALILEE ― On Wednesday afternoon, state and local officials joined the groundbreaking ceremony for Mitsubishi Electric Power Products's (MEPPI) new Beaver County facility.

According to MEPPI officials, the new switchgear factory and power electronics testing lab are part of the company's $86 million expansion. This facility in New Galilee will allow the company to address the growing electricity demand, creating 200 new jobs in the region and retaining 806 employees at the site.

“We’re not just breaking ground on a new facility; we are advancing Mitsubishi Electric’s investment in North America by engineering, and delivering, the infrastructure of the future,” said Tricia Breeger, president and CEO of MEPPI. “With this investment, MEPPI will be positioned to better serve our customers, provide new opportunities for employment, and contribute to our local community. The Advanced Switchgear Facility will be a place where ideas flourish, talent thrives, and innovation takes shape."

Mitsubishi Electric Power Products (MEPPI) broke ground on their new Beaver County factory on March 19, 2025.

The state supported the expansion in southwest Pennsylvania, which awarded the company a $6.7 million investment to assist in expansions during October 2024. According to state and local officials, these incentives are offered to businesses to bring more jobs into the region.

“Beaver County is excited that Mitsubishi Electric Power Products has chosen Beaver County for its new Advanced Switchgear Facility,” the Beaver County Board of Commissioners said in a statement. “This project is another example of how Beaver County is coming together to attract and grow business to enhance the economic well-being and quality of life for the Beaver County community.”

According to MEPPI, the new Beaver County facility will allow their production efforts to transition from gas-insulated circuit breakers to vacuum breakers. The switchgear and other power electronics produced by the facility are essential to the growth of electrical systems across the region, with Pennsylvania politicians hopeful that the local facility will help reduce the cost of growing electric infrastructure in the state.

The 160,000-square-foot facility is expected to be completed in July 2026.
