DuBOIS — Juniata Elementary School in the DuBois Area School District extends its gratitude to Domtar, a local business which donated funds to purchase books through First Book — an act of generosity that has impacted students and classrooms, according to a press release.

Founded in 1992, First Book is a nonprofit social enterprise committed to building a world where all children have access to a quality education. Its mission to remove barriers to equitable education aligns perfectly with the district’s dedication to “Teaching Today’s Learners to Be Tomorrow’s Leaders.”

“Through this book donation, schools have been filled with resources that will inspire, educate and empower young minds for years to come. Books are more than just pages bound together; they are gateways to knowledge, imagination and new opportunities. Thanks to Domtar and First Book, students now have increased access to a diverse range of literature, fostering curiosity and a love for lifelong learning,” a press release from Juniata Elementary stated.

“Walking into the classrooms and seeing shelves filled with books that encourage critical thinking, creativity and exploration is a sight to behold. This donation helps create an atmosphere where students feel motivated to read, learn and grow. The impact of this generosity will ripple through generations, shaping future leaders who will make meaningful contributions to society,” according to the press release.

“As students at Juniata embrace the ‘Three Cs’ — Caring, Careful, and Courageous — values that guide students and educators every day. This donation embodies these principles by showing care for students’ futures, careful consideration of their educational needs, and the courage to invest in a brighter tomorrow,” the press release stated.
