Stocks rose on Tuesday as buyers extended their interest in certain bank shares .

Market insiders and some investors continued to take positions in trendy large-cap stocks, capitalizing on the declining trends in treasury yields and bank interest rates.

The market recovery was aided by price appreciation of selective bank stocks ahead of their earnings disclosures.

The prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) increased by 4.86 points to settle at 5,210.

The benchmark index of the capital market remained in positive territory as buyers held a slight edge, despite active participation from both buyers and sellers, according to EBL Securities.

The blue-chip index DS30, comprising 30 leading companies, decreased by 6.49 points to 1,882, while the DSES Index, representing Shariah-compliant companies, decreased by 2.28 points to 1,159.56 by the close.

Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, stood at Tk 4.51 billion, down 10.7 per cent from the previous trading day.

The majority of the stocks saw a price increase, as out of the 398 issues traded, 186 closed higher, 156 ended lower, and 56 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
