Kevin Hennet, senior, Dover High School

This week Dover High School recognizes senior Kevin Hennet. His nominating teacher, Ms. Little wrote this incredible description outlining why Kevin is such an outstanding candidate for student of the week. Below is what she had to say about Kevin.

“Kevin Hennet is an outstanding student who embodies dedication, intelligence, and kindness at Dover High School. His academic achievements, including earning the highest award in Honors English 11, showcase his strong work ethic and passion for learning. Kevin consistently fosters a positive classroom environment, supporting and encouraging his peers while contributing insightful, thought-provoking ideas to discussions. What truly sets Kevin apart is his humility and ability to listen deeply. In classroom discussions, he does not rush to speak but instead takes the time to process others’ ideas, thoughtfully engaging with his peers' perspectives before offering his own. His comments often bring new depth to discussions, demonstrating not only his strong analytical skills but also his respect for the voices around him. He values collaboration over competition and is always willing to help his classmates without seeking recognition. In fact, you would never know that Kevin is one of Dover High’s top students because of how quiet and humble he is. He never boasts about his achievements, instead allowing his hard work and thoughtful contributions to speak for themselves.

Beyond the classroom, Kevin is a well-rounded student who dedicates his time to numerous extracurricular activities and community contributions. He is an active member of the robotics team, a CTE ambassador for programming, and the vice president of the Spanish Club. His leadership extends to community service, where he volunteers with the Interact Club and the Red Cross Club, helping at blood drives, babysitting, and assisting at kids’ camps. Additionally, Kevin balances his academics and service work with real-world experience, having worked as a customer service associate for over a year and completing a programming internship where he worked with Python FastAPI and PostgreSQL.

What makes Kevin truly remarkable is his deep appreciation for his education, teachers, and the opportunities afforded to him. He recognizes the value of learning, and expresses his gratitude by making the most of every opportunity available to him. Whether it's taking advantage of study halls to improve his writing, seeking feedback to refine his work, or engaging in extracurriculars that align with his passions, Kevin approaches every experience with time, attention, and a desire to grow. His drive to achieve extends beyond the classroom as well — he applies to every scholarship he can (and I mean every scholarship!), demonstrating his determination to attend a top school. His character, leadership, and unwavering commitment to bettering himself and those around him make Kevin a truly deserving candidate for Student of the Week.”
