TSSAA girls basketball state tournament 2025: Bradley Central captures 3rd straight 4A championship
MURFREESBORO ― It's championship Saturday for Tennessee high school girls basketball.
From the time the season began last November, schools across the state have been working toward this moment and four teams will walk away with a gold ball when the TSSAA girls basketball state tournament championships wrap up at MTSU's Murphy Center.
Westview and York Institute will revive what's become a state tournament staple when the two Class 2A powers meet at 1:30 p.m. Saturday. Van Buren is making its first state championship appearance in Class 1A.
There'll be a new state champion in Class 3A after 2024 champ Dyersburg was knocked out in Friday's semifinal against Northview Academy.
Bradley Central caps third straight Class 4A state title, rolling to TSSAA girls basketball state tournament 2025 win
Bradley Central won its third straight state championship, throttling Bartlett, 70-28, Saturday at MTSU's Murphy Center. The game was the culmination of four straight days of state tournament games in four classifications.
Four players reached double figures for the Bears, led by Avary Brewer's 19 points. Brewer was 4-of-6 from 3 while Tatianna Stovall and Miss Basketball finalist Kimora Fields each had 14 points. Last year's championship MVP, Harmonie Ware, added 12 points and eight rebounds.
Bartlett struggled from the start, falling behind 21-2 in the first quarter. No scored in double figures for Bartlett who shot only 21% from the field (7-of-34) and had 21 turnovers.

Bradley Central has had a dominating first half, controlling the game from the start as it heads into the locker room with a 40-11 lead against Bartlett.
Avary Brewer has 13 points, including 3-for-4 from 3-point range. Tatianna Stovall has 10 points and four rebounds.
Bartlett is shot only 3-of-16 in the first half. Nobody has more than two points for the team. Bradley Central holds a 22-6 margin in paint points while the Bears have scored 19 points off Bartlett turnovers.

Bradley Central had slow starts in its Class 4A quarterfinal and semifinal games but not Saturday in the championship. The Bears hold a 21-4 lead after the first quarter, holding Bartlett to just 25% shooting and forcing Bartlett into nine turnovers.
Kimora Fields and Tatianna Stovall each have eight points to lead Bradley Central.
Heritage survives a physical title game to claim team's first TSSAA girls basketball state tournament championship
Heritage made program history Saturday, claiming the Class 3A crown, beating Northview Academy 63-43 at MTSU's Murphy Center.
The Lady Mountaineers had to withstand a physical game that produced two technical fouls and played most of the championship game without its star player in Carsyn Swaney.
The MTSU signee injured her ankle in Friday's semifinal win over South Gibson. Although Swaney warmed up prior to Saturday's game, she could only cheer on her teammates from the bench. She was put in the game in the final 34 seconds and hit a stand-still 3-pointer as her teammates and fans went crazy.
Heritage got huge games from Chloe Heath, Katelyn Graves, Kenley Corker and Faith Morris. Graves finished with 15 points while the other three scored 13.
Northview Academy was led by Jordan White who finished with 15 points.

The game has gotten extremely physical as both teams struggle to gain control of game that Heritage is leading 38-33 entering the fourth quarter.
Heritage is playing without star, and MTSU signee Carsyn Swaney. But defense and play of Chloe Heath, Katelyn Graves and Kenley Corker have been enough to keep Northview at bay. The trio have combined for 31 points.
Northview Academy is led by Jordan White's 15 points.

Playing without Miss Basketball finalist Carsyn Swaney, Heritage holds a one-point lead on Northview Academy in the Class 3A championship game.
Swaney injured her ankle in Friday's semifinal win and was helped off the court into the locker room. She was later seen outside Murphy Center on a stretcher. Swaney warmed up prior to the start of Saturday's championship but has not played in the game.

A tornado warning issued by the National Weather Service in Nashville delayed the start of the Class 3A state championship game for about an hour. Northview Academy and Heritage are scheduled to tip off at around 5:05 p.m.

The final minute of the second quarter saw action pick up dramatically as Van Buren holds a 29-25 lead at halftime. Both teams got out in transition, creating and knocking down shots. Greenfield trailed by as many as six in the quarter.

Abigail Netherton drilled about a 28-foot 3-pointer to close out the first quarter as Van Buren holds a 17-12 lead on Greenfield during the Class 1A state championship game. Netherton already has nine points while Cara Mills has six point and four rebounds.
