Your frozen chicken nuggets deserve some tasty dipping sauce, too.
Fortunately, you soon won’t need to stop by the drive-thru to enjoy some of Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen’s most popular dipping sauces — three bottled sauces are (finally) making their way to supermarkets nationwide, as the brand tells Food & Wine. This marks the first time Popeyes will offer its sauces in a retail setting, and folks online seemingly can’t wait to get their hands on them.
"Popeyes is bringing its beloved restaurant flavors to grocery aisles for the first time, allowing both loyal fans and new consumers to enjoy our iconic dipping sauces at home," Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen tells Food & Wine. "This launch offers dedicated customers the chance to bring their favorite Popeyes flavors into their own kitchens while introducing new consumers to the bold taste that defines the brand."
Starting March 15, shoppers can grab three of the chain’s most beloved sauces for dipping, dunking, and drizzling: Blackened Ranch, Sweet Heat, and Mardi Gras Mustard.
Haven’t tasted these savory dips yet? Allow us to walk you through the flavors. The first starts with a base of buttermilk ranch, Popeyes tells us, then adds the brand’s signature blackened seasoning blend. Sweet Heat, on the other hand, brings an on-trend “swicy” mix of honey and Aleppo pepper sauce. Finally, Popeyes describes Mardi Gras Mustard as a “creamy Creole mustard mixed with the bold burn of horseradish.” (We recommend bookmarking this one if you want something with a kick.)
Mardi Gras Mustard will only be available at select retailers, so it will require a little more time and effort to track down.
Each sauce comes in an 18-ounce squeezable bottle. Blackened Ranch and Sweet Heat are hitting shelves at retailers such as Albertsons, Kroger, Food Lion, Walmart, and Amazon starting this Saturday. Unfortunately, you’ll have to stay patient for the Mardi Gras Mustard, which the brand says won’t be available until later this spring.
Cue the fanfare: Across social media, the response is nothing short of ecstatic.
Over on Reddit, members of the r/Popeyes subreddit are already showing lots of love for the upcoming Sweet Heat and Blackened Ranch bottled sauces — even though those grocery versions won’t be out until the end of the week. Meanwhile, trusted food blogger Markie Devo (along with his thousands of hungry followers) seems pretty pumped about the release:
Popeyes Squeezable 18-Ounce Sauces
- Blackened Ranch
- Sweet Heat
- Mardi Gras Mustard
Some users are already calling for a full lineup of sauces, including the lemon pepper seasoning and garlic Parmesan used to coat the chicken wings. Others joke that “we’ve got Popeyes at home” — a familiar refrain to avoid impulse detours to the drive-thru.
Popeyes might’ve reached peak virality for its fan-favorite chicken sandwiches in recent years, but we can’t overlook the basics: Its crispy, oh-so-dippable chicken tenders.
