The LaFollette Utilities Board met on Monday night and approved two contract bids.
The board passed resolution 01-27-25-01 first in the meeting.
The resolution awards a tentative bid for the waterline extension project to Adams and Sons INC.
The bid is contingent on the proper approval from the State Revolving Fund Program.
The second order of business was approving an easement and construction related contract for the 2022 SRF rural water line extension project with Cannon & Cannon INC.
Cannon & Cannon will be an oversight project manager and will also handle a lot of the engineering for the project.
LUB attorney Kathy Parrott noted that she was not pleased with the high cost for easement acquisitions that Cannon & Cannon will pass through LUB.
She still encouraged the board to go forward with the contract but did recommend to the board that LUB should try to handle easement acquisitions itself in the future to avoid having to pay high prices.
