Crack out the sun tan lotion and fire up the barbecue as it's going to be a warm, sunny weekend in Greater Manchester.

Temperatures are predicted to hover around the mid-20s as Mancunians bask in wall to wall sunshine.

Today, mercury levels will peak at 24C between 3pm to 5pm, before cooling to around 20C in the evening.

"It will be a dry day with plenty of sunshine and light winds across the region. After a warm and sunny evening, it will stay dry overnight with clear skies", the Met Office website says.

Sunday will see similar weather, with sunshine forecast from 5am until 9pm, with only occasional cloudy intervals.

The warmest part of the day is predicted to be around 4pm on Sunday.

"Once any early mist or fog patches clear, Sunday will be another very warm and sunny day. Some patchy cloud may form through the afternoon", the Met Office says.

The good weather is predicted to continue into next week, but it should feel a little less hot.

On Monday, it's forecast to be a few degrees cooler, with temperatures peaking at 21C.

It's set to be a bit more cloudy too, but should feel fairly warm throughout the day.

Tuesday will see similar temperatures - with sun and cloud forecast all day.

On Wednesday, temperatures are predicted to dip to the late teens, with clouds and the odd patch of rain forecast.

Thursday and Friday are set to be dry, with mercury levels hovering around 16C both days.
