The Anglican Bishop of Niger Delta North, Wisdom Ihunwo, has decried infiltration of the ministry, regretting that the generalisation that 'all men of God' are not genuine was due to infiltration of the ministry by those not called by God.

The Anglican Bishop of Niger Delta North, Wisdom Ihunwo, has decried infiltration of the ministry, regretting that the generalisation that ‘all men of God’ are not genuine was due to infiltration of the ministry by those not called by God.

He condemned the mischievous activities of some pastors who parade themselves as men of God, thereby making people lose confidence in clergymen. He said: “Because of adulteration of ministry, those who called themselves and were not called by God, people now generalise that all men of God are the same. There are still genuine men of God.” He stressed the need for integrity among men of God, and for them to emulate Christ Jesus.

The Niger Delta bishop stated this, yesterday, at a thanksgiving service organised by the member representing Rivers State on the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Tony Okocha, held at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Rumuapara District, in Port Harcourt .

The thanksgiving service was for Okocha’s appointments as NDDC board member and Chairman, Caretaker Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, as well as the birthday of his wife, Ogechi Okocha.

The clergyman said that sometimes miracles are delayed or do not come because of pomposity, counselling the congregants to learn humility. He said: “Sometimes our miracles are either delayed or do not come to us because of pomposity. Some of us when we talk to people, even the clergy, when they instruct us on what to do, we look down on them.”
