Alberta’s Top Business Leaders Announced for 2018 CEO Rescue in the Rockies for STARS

Prominent Alberta-based CEOs will be airlifted into the wilderness for annual fundraiser

CALGARY, Alberta, May 22, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Shock Trauma Air Rescue Service (STARS), a non-profit helicopter air ambulance organization, is thrilled to welcome back CEO Rescue in the Rockies for STARS, its flagship fundraiser in Alberta. The much-anticipated event will be held on Friday, June 15, 2018. For the seventh year, influential members of Alberta’s business community will raise critical funds to support STARS’ vital services.

“Having these influential CEOs take time out of their busy schedules and raise donations to support STARS is truly a remarkable deed,” says Andrea Robertson, president and CEO of STARS. “This event would not see the success it has over the years without the dedication of Alberta’s leaders. When the community comes together great things happen and we can continue to provide people the vital care they need when they need it the most.”

STARS is excited to announce this year’s participating CEOs: Dave Mowat, president and CEO of ATB Financial; Gianna Manes, president and CEO of Enmax; Tom Kee, executive director of Federation of Alberta Gas Co-ops; and Doug Anderson, president of Peavey Industries.

On June 15, the executives will be airlifted from Calgary’s Peace Bridge helipad to a remote mountain location in Kananaskis Country. Armed with only their flight suits, cell phones and a sense of adventure, the CEOs will compete against each other in a series of survival challenges. The ultimate challenge for each CEO is to raise $100,000 for STARS by reaching out to their friends, family and colleagues from on top of the mountain. Once the CEOs reach their fundraising goal, they will be “rescued” by STARS and returned to downtown Calgary to celebrate their success.

All funds raised through CEO Rescue in the Rockies will help STARS continue to provide a safe, rapid and highly specialized emergency transport system for the critically ill and injured.
