Kratos’ Colorado Springs Satellite Facility Hosts U.S. Rep Doug Lamborn Town Hall Event

SAN DIEGO, Jan. 30, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, Inc. (Nasdaq:KTOS), a leading National Security Solutions provider, announced today that U.S. Rep. Doug Lamborn (CO-05) toured and hosted a town hall event at the company’s campus here on January 24. Kratos’ Colorado facilities specialize in advanced engineering, research and development of technologies that support satellite communications, UAVs, missile defense and related applications.

“Kratos’ work in Colorado is critical to our commercial and defense work in space, an area that is coming to the forefront as countries vie for the increasingly valuable role that satellites play,” said Lamborn. “The Kratos facility here in Colorado Springs is an important national asset and a pillar of our Colorado economy.”

The facility tour included Kratos’ RF Monitoring Network Operations Center (NOC), an advanced facility that serves as the nerve center for the company’s global network of ground stations and sensors. This network, the only commercially available of its kind, monitors satellite and other RF signals to provide better Space Situational Awareness (SSA) and interference mitigation for government and commercial satellite operators.

Kratos products and services, including those from its Colorado-based Kratos RT Logic subsidiary, support more than 90 percent of U.S. space missions and are used by approximately 75 percent of commercial satellite operators worldwide. Kratos supplies command and control, ground systems and signal processing, protection and monitoring solutions to clients in those markets.

Last August, Kratos announced a significant expansion of its Colorado Springs campus on a 10-acre parcel to support the growing demand for satellite communications and control solutions. The larger facilities will include technology and capacity improvements to the company’s NOC, to support SSA customers.

At the town hall event with Kratos employees, Lamborn discussed issues around the defense budget, Congress’ vision for the U.S. presence in space, and being prepared for a future contested space environment.

“Kratos helps assure the growing global dependency on satellites for communications, navigation and timing, remote sensing, weather, and other space-based services,” said Phil Carrai, President of Kratos’ Technology & Training Division. “In addition, Kratos’ technology makes it possible for the military to detect the launch of missiles, defend space assets, and assure missions that employ unmanned aerial vehicles.”
