Abraham out? BVIEC announces vacancy of GM post
BVI News understands that Leroy Abraham will not be returning as General Manager (GM) for the BVI Electricity Corporation (BVIEC).
This is signalled by a vacancy notice which the government-owned power company published on its social media page on Tuesday, September 27.
The notice said: “BVI Electricity Corporation is seeking an energetic, result-oriented and high-calibre professional candidate to fill the position of General Manager.”
The power company further said the successful candidate will be largely responsible for working to meet the electrical transmission and distribution needs of the territory, and working regionally and nationally on key resource issues.
It is not clear why Abraham, who’s held the post for several years, is not returning to the post.
In the meantime, news of the BVIEC General Manager vacancy follows a public dispute between the power company and long-time fuel supplier, Delta Petroleum. It also follows complaints about the rising electricity costs in the territory in the last several months.

Efforts to get a comment for Abraham — the first and only BVIEC GM to serve as Chairman of the Caribbean Electric Utility Services Corporation (CARILEC) — were unsuccessful up to publication time.

Sl** Wande and the Unified A** Clowns aren’t interested in fixing the problem from on Government’s end; they lack courage and are cowards. Government needs to straighten its operations out to lower its bill and find some way to pay its bill as it’s the largest customer. I can’t pay that inefficiency tax ie the surcharge. When we don’t pay our bill the power gets turn off, the new GM need to turn off Government account until it pay its bill. The entire board needs to go and independent strong members with competence need to be appointed; who ain’t afraid of making hard decisions
Leroy obviously pi**ed off a lot of folks? But then when you don’t shut your eyes on what’s happening, or you’re not going with the flow, then sweeping everything under the carpet because we’ze all boys together, you will definitely pi** people off. One person said something positive about Leroy. Everyone else makes snide remarks. Sign of our times. We are so bogged down in crookedness that everyone gets painted with the tar brush. Good example of why decent folks need to stay out of government and politics, drink their water and mind their own business.

We have short memory. After Irma when all the politicians said we would be without power for 6 months the guys at the electrical company got power back to essential buildings in Roadtown in a couple of weeks and we even had power in VG in 23 days . I think he and his team did an outstanding job. It is not his fault that the Biden government canceled the Keystone Pipeline and made the US dependent on foreign oil causing this major price increase.
At least we taxpayer’s in the BVI don’t have to subsidize the electrical company with $22 million a year like the water company.
I wonder if the idiots commenting realize that someone can leave a job without being fired or other negative reason. When you are qualified you have options for more money and better opportunities.

What I know is those electricity trucks needs to park up when they are not working,problem solve.to much unnecessary driving causing a fuel strain on BVIEC. Then of course you know who has to pay for that.
