Prince Harry has long championed various causes across Africa – the Duke of Sussex is also a patron of the Rhino Conservation Botswana and co-founded Sentebale with Prince Seeiso of Lesotho, a charity to support young people affected by HIV and AIDS – and has called the continent his "second home".
Upon his visit in 2019 with Meghan Markle and a then-newborn Archie, which also included a stay in South Africa, he said of Cape Town: "We just came from Cape Town, that would be an amazing place for us to base ourselves."
