MORRISVILLE —  The CEO of Morrisville-based Syneos Health, a clinical biopharmaceutical company, received $7.6 million in total compensation in 2018, a 29 percent increase from his compensation in 2017.

Alistair Macdonald has served as CEO of Syneos Health, formerly Inc Research Holdings Inc., since 2016.

In early 2018, after a merger with inVentiv Health, the company re-branded to Syenos.

Macdonald’s 2018 compensation totaled $7.6 million, up from the $5.9 million in compensation he received in 2017.

Most of the increase came from the $2 million jump in his company stock awards he received in 2018, rising to $6.07 million from $4.24 million.

His base salary increased 17 percent, rising from $852,703 in 2017 to $1,017,045 in 2018.

His nonequity incentive plan compensation fell to $352,200 in 2018 from $595,000 in 2017.

Syneos Heath’s shares closed at $50.06 on Friday evening, down 39 cents.

The company will be holding its virtual-only annual meeting on May 29 at 8 a.m.
