Carnecchia Named CEO At Accelrys

c-level_225px-wJune 16, 2009 (FinancialWire) — Accelrys, Inc. (NASDAQ: ACCL) board has named Scipio Carnecchia to serve as the company’s chief executive officer and president. Carnecchia, who most recently served as president of software firm Interwoven, has also been appointed to Accelrys board.

At Interwoven, Carnecchia ran the day to day operations of the business and led the company. Interwoven was acquired by Autonomy earlier this year in a transaction valued at around $800 million.

Todd Johnson, who has served as Accelrys’ interim president and CEO, is resigning his position effective June 15. He will serve as an advisor to Carnecchia for a period of time to assist with the transition. Johnson was named interim president and CEO in January.

Prior to Interwoven, Carnecchia served as VP of global sales of Xoriant, VP of sales and services of SmartDB, and as VP of sales for Group 1 Software.
