Drinks giant Diageo pours a £150m investment to toast the success of Johnnie Walker
The distillery visitor centre will be in Edinburgh
Drinks multinational Diageo is pouring a £150million investment to toast the success of Johnnie Walker.
Diageo will open a distillery visitor centre as more tourists flock to Scotland to sample its whisky.
Diageo, which also owns Guinness and Tanqueray gin, has chosen Edinburgh for the investment, which is thought to be the biggest single investment in Scotch whisky tourism to date.
The company accounts for 42 per cent of the Scotch whisky industry by volume and exports just under 33 million cases a year.
The group will also use the centre as a way of encouraging young unemployed people into the hospitality sector.
