Boozy blockbusters? Movie martinis? Local theater files for TABC permits

If you like piña coladas and watching all the new shows, you might be in luck soon at the Cinemark 14 Wichita Falls.

Cinemark 14 Wichita Falls, located at 2915 Glenwood Blvd. in Parker Square, applied for a liquor license from the Texas Alcohol Beverage Commission and posted notice on March 13.

If the application is successful, the license will allow theater to sell mixed beverages from unsealed containers, wine, beer, ale and malt liquors.

Moviegoers will be able to sip them on site while watching the latest action flick or Star Wars movie. The theater is also seeking a late-hours permit to serve mixed beverages from midnight to 2 a.m. as part of the application.

According to the TABC website, the average time frame for receiving an alcoholic beverage permit is 45 to 60 days.

This notice was posted Tuesday at the Cinemark 14 Wichita Falls, located at 2915 Glenwood Blvd. in Parker Square.

It is unclear what the local theater plans to serve, as requests for comment from the Cinemark corporate offices by the Times Record News had not been returned as of 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Other Cinemark theaters already offer up beer: draft and bottled domestic, imported, and local craft brews, according to Cinemark’s corporate website.

Red, white and sparkling wines are also served in other areas, along with frozen drinks, hand-crafted specialty cocktails and martinis.
