Chico >> Development impact fees are coming back to the Chico City Council.

The council on Tuesday evening will hold a public hearing to consider amending fee schedules related to the development impact fee program update.

It’s been nearly 10 years since the last update to the development impact fees, which are costs levied by the city upon builders to account for the impacts that a new subdivision or business is expected to have on Chico.

City staff have, since 2015, conducted a detailed analysis to update the development impact fee program schedule, including holding several public meetings on the matter.

The city Public Works Director Brendan Ottoboni is now recommending that the council approve a resolution amending the city’s fee schedule related to transportation facility fees, building and equipment fees, sewer fees and park facility fees.

The council is also slated to discuss term limits. At a November meeting, Councilor Mark Sorensen requested that the council consider a future discussion about placing on the November 2018 ballot a proposal to amend the city charter to allow city councilors to serve no more than three terms in office.

Also on the agenda:

• Members of the Sustainability Task Force will present their 2018 work plan to the council.

• A request from Mayor Sean Morgan to consider a future discussion on the public safety initiative, Reducing Crime and Keeping California Safe Act of 2018.

The City Council meeting is scheduled at 6 p.m., Tuesday in the big room of the Old Municipal Building, 441 Main St. ADA access is available. The usual meeting place at City Council Chambers is closed for remodeling.
