Kirby Corp (KEX) released a profit for third quarter that dropped from last year.
The company said its earnings dropped to $28.61 million, or $0.52 per share. This was lower than $32.01 million, or $0.59 per share, in last year's third quarter.
Analysts had expected the company to earn $0.45 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
The company said revenue for the quarter rose 24.5% to $541.27 million. This was up from $434.71 million last year.
