INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Police say a man was fatally shot during a confrontation inside a Kroger supermarket in Indianapolis.

The shooting happened Friday night after two men began fighting inside the store on the city’s south side. Police say the man who fired the shots left the store and carjacked a car in the parking lot to flee.

Police say the gunman crashed into parked cars while being chased a couple miles away. Officers caught him after a brief foot chase.

Police spokeswoman Genae Cook says investigators didn’t immediately know whether the men knew each other or what prompted the fight.

The wounded man was pronounced dead at the scene. The identities of the victim and the arrested man weren’t immediately released.
