Nancy Brennan will discuss the components of an effective, working board to improve your organization’s fundraising, communications and outcomes
Community Connections has announced that the speaker at their next meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 27, will be Nancy Brennan, who serves as Senior Vice President and Regional Director of the National Executive Service Corps (NESC.) Brennan’s talk, ‘A Stronger Nonprofit Starts with a Stronger Board,’ relates to a critical topic for all non-profit organizations.
No board is perfect, but understanding the necessary components to building boards that work effectively will improve the likelihood of success at your nonprofit. Without a strong board, a nonprofit’s fundraising, communication and outcomes can be stymied. Brennan will discuss the ABC’s of basic nonprofit board governance, including some of the roadblocks to a high-functioning board, and examples of how strong nonprofit boards have chosen to successfully address these issues. Leave with ideas to help improve your nonprofit board.
The Community Connections luncheon will be held at the Old Lyme Country Club, 40 McCurdy Rd., Old Lyme from 12 to 1:30 p.m. All are welcome but advance registration is required. Walk-ins will be accepted if space permits. There is a $25 charge, which includes lunch.
