DAYLIGHT ROBBERY: Western Union Grab And Run Thief Escapes In Car

Police are investigating a grab and run incident outside the Western Union exchange at Damodar City in Raiwai, Suva, yesterday morning.

A Western Union worker was returning from the bank to her office at Level 1 in the Damodar City Complex when the incident happened.

A man after grabbing the bag containing an undisclosed amount of money fled in a hybrid vehicle parked along Grantham Road outside Damodar City.

Police spokesperson, Ana Naisoro has confirmed the incident however she could not confirm further details.

A security officer at the complex, who wished to be anonymous, said she was patrolling the complex when she saw a young man running towards the woman and grabbing her bag. He then made his escape in a vehicle.

The security officer confirmed that the Western Union employee was at the foot of the stairs opposite Eagle Boys Pizza Shop when the bag was pulled from her.

She said the man was wearing a black hooded jacket. The staff have been questioned by the Police.
