Cinemark 14 movie theater is closed until a water pipe that burst on the second floor is repaired.

Cinemark 14 on Old Alturas Road in Redding resumed showing movies Friday night but parts of the theater are likely to remain closed until a water pipe that burst on the second floor of the theater Thursday evening is repaired.

Fire Chief Gerry Gray said Friday night on Twitter part of the theater was able to reopen.

Earlier in the day, it wasn't clear when Redding's largest theater would reopen as management wasn't able to provide an estimate on when it might reopen.

"The building is closed for now," Dylan Beebe, assistant manager of Cinemark 14, said earlier Friday. "We need to make sure it's safe to enter."

Bobbie West, 24, was with her two children and grandmother when the fire alarm went off while they were watching the movie "Leap!" on Thursday.

"Over the intercom they told everybody to just be calm... and to evacuate nice and slow," she said.

Bobbie West, 24, with her daughter and two nephews stopped by Cinemark 14 to get her ticket refund.

She came back Friday morning, and she was given tickets to see another movie and was told she would be reimbursed for her soda and popcorn.

"I'm really excited they gave me my tickets back though," she said.

West arrived with her daughter, and had just picked up her two nephews from Black Butte Elementary School in Shingletown, where school was shut down Friday due to a power and water outage.

Construction crew work on the west side of the theater to repair the burst pipe.

Despite the difficult day, she said the theater experience didn't change her mind about coming back to Cinemark, and she hoped to return once everything was repaired.

"You know, things like this happen, and it's not really anything to worry about," she said, "I'm sure when it gets fixed and, you know, everything is safe again they'll let us back in."
