Meg Whitman is stepping down from HP's board
Whitman will remain the CEO of HPE, which split off from HP Inc. in 2015.
HP split into two companies in 2015: HP and HPE. Whitman will remain the CEO of HPE. It is the board of the other company, HP, which makes PC and printers, that she is leaving.
Whitman was the chairman of HP after the split. That seat, and the chairman title, will go to
Dion Weisler, who is HP's CEO, will continue in his role.
Whitman's move comes as rumors circulate that she's in the running for the Uber CEO job. But the reality may be less dramatic. Since HP and HPE split in 2015, the two companies have continued to sever ties between the two, freeing the two businesses up to pursue their own deals.
