Horace Mann Educators Announces 92% Fall In Q2 Profit

Horace Mann Educators (HMN) reported a profit for second quarter that decreased from last year.

The company said its earnings declined to $0.8 million, or $0.02 per share. This was lower than $10.3 million, or $0.25 per share, in last year's second quarter.

Analysts had expected the company to earn $0.11 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company said revenue for the quarter rose 2.8% to $291.4 million. This was up from $283.5 million last year.
