Sea-inspired spa opens in Maine
Following a major resort refurbishment, the 9,000sq ft (836sq m) spa at Cliff House Maine is now open, offering guests luxury, comfort and state-of-the-art technology.
The 70 acre site, which is nestled atop Bald Head Cliff on the southern coast, was redesigned by New England firm, TruexCullins, following a brief to create a ‘gathering place on the cliffs’.
With creative consultation from Blu Spas Inc., the spa incorporates “wild and free” elements of coastal Maine, incorporating the interplay of water, stone, sky and sand into its treatments.
Facilities include seven single treatment rooms, one double signature suite treatment room, five standard facial and massage rooms, state-of-the-art fitness centre and movement studio, two multi-purpose rooms with showers and a retail space.
The full-service salon includes four manicure and pedicure stations, a make-up and brow bar and a cliff-side sun lounge sanctuary that serves as a transition zone within the treatment area corridor.
The Spa’s wellness centre offers spa and yoga treatments including breathing, stretching, meditation and treatment therapies, as well as teas, juices, shakes and nutritional resources.
Adjacent to the Spa, the Signature Spa Suite is situated on the ocean level at the top of Bald Head Cliff and features two treatment tables, drench experience shower for two guests and a built-in lounge nook with fireplace.
The Suite also serves as accommodation, with king-size beds and a living room with a full/double sleeper sofa. For an extra level of privacy, guests can enjoy treatments in the suite should they so wish.
At the helm is director of spa and wellness, Dawn Page. Page’s background in luxury wellness and expertise in spa management, includes extensive experience at top tier spas across multiple states and countries.
“I am excited to lead the charge in solidifying Cliff House’s position as the top destination spa in the Northeast,” said Page. “With a focus on regionally infused treatments along with outstanding service, I am confident the Spa will provide guests with a luxurious and unique experience.”
Inspired by the traditions and treasures of the sea, the spa menu pairs time-honoured techniques with local products that fuse science and nature.
Treatments include massage therapy sessions such as the Salt of the Sea and Elemental Harmonizer massages, vitality rituals, customisable hydration experiences, bio-rejuvenating facials and nail treatments.
The environmentally-friendly, botanically-based skincare line Red Flower is the resort’s in-room and spa amenity partner; signature treatments include Sea Coast Rose Renewal, a calming full body massage that includes salt water and roses; Stone Ritual, a rhassoul clay body mask, and Water Ritual, a soothing treatment that includes exfoliation, aloe and deep sea algae.
The Spa also carries Zents, a luxury fragrance and bodycare range; natural and certified organic line Sciote, and bio-active brand Elemental Herbology.
Situated along the Atlantic Ocean, Cliff House is located within driving distance of Portland, Boston and New York City. The resort’s expansion plans include additional guestrooms, a children’s centre, coffee house and an adults-only pool in late spring 2017.
