By today, the auction of the entertainment retail company Hastings should be complete.

Bankruptcy court documents Monday revealed that the Gordon Brothers Group and Bloomberg L.P. - the software, data, and media branch of Michael Bloomberg's billion-dollar company - were both interested in purchasing the company, and there could be more.

Vice President of Marketing and Advertising Kevin Ball did not respond to Amarillo Globe-News requests for comment on the proceedings.

Hastings filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in a Delaware court on June 13, and originally had until July 13 to find a buyer. On July 6, the bankruptcy court granted a weeklong extension to the proceedings.

The company currently employs about 3,850 people. There are 36 Hastings locations in Texas alone, which account for 1,200 jobs, more than 400 of which are found in Amarillo.
