China Eastern Airlines announces direct route between O’Hare International Airport and Shanghai Pudong International Airport

This new route is the premiere choice for business and leisure travelers traveling between Chicago and Shanghai looking for top service and unparalleled connectivity within China with 156 connecting routes throughout the country from Shanghai as well as more than 50 connecting routes within Asia.

CHICAGO – China Eastern Airlines announces new daily direct service between O’Hare International Airport and Shanghai Pudong International Airport beginning March 18, 2016 on a Boeing 777-300ER. This new route is the premiere choice for business and leisure travelers traveling between Chicago and Shanghai looking for top service and unparalleled connectivity within China with 156 connecting routes throughout the country from Shanghai as well as more than 50 connecting routes within Asia.

China Eastern Airlines has prioritized understanding the travelers’ needs and habits in order to offer a world-class travel experience that transforms the flight from Chicago to Shanghai into a truly meaningful value for guests.

The Boeing 777-300ER interior allows for China Eastern Airlines to continuously improve the guest experience. Offerings in all cabins include Wi-Fi; dynamic LED colored lighting, which eases jet leg and positively affects passengers’ moods; more comfortable seating materials; a complimentary overnight hotel accommodation in Shanghai if an involuntary stop is taken; and a complimentary day room to rest between flights at Pudong International Airport if a connection time is longer than five hours.
 
Additionally, Shanghai now offers a visa-free transit policy allowing transit passengers with United States and Canada passports, as well as passport holders of 49 additional countries, to stay up to 144 hours without a transit visa. The 144 hour visa-free stay in Shanghai is available to travelers on direct international flights via Shanghai Pudong International Airport and Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport.
 
The new Boeing 777-300ER offers First and Business Class travelers a luxurious experience. Guests who fly in First and Business Class cabins will enjoy additional services including complimentary airport luxury car service in Shanghai. Complimentary airport luxury car service to and from O’Hare International Airport will be launched soon. 
 
The China Eastern Airlines airport lounges, with exclusive access for First and Business Cabin guests, provide travelers with a respite to make traveling more comfortable. The lounges offer complimentary Wi-Fi, traditional gourmet Shanghai cuisine, and a shower room. Additionally, First Class passengers will be assisted the entire way from check-in to boarding by China Eastern Airlines staff.
 
The Business Class cabin is designed with a 1-2-1 layout providing every passenger with direct aisle access. The reverse herringbone seating configuration with half shell design offers privacy while the fully reclining 180-degree leather flat-bed seats provide comfort. There is ample storage compartments for personal items and large stow-able table space for dining or working. This cabin also features two wheelchair accessible extra-large lavatories.
 
The well-appointed First Class cabin has six suite-like spaces, each 43” wide by 82” long, that are optimized for spaciousness and privacy featuring plush lay-flat bed seats that are 26.5” wide. This cabin has two seats that can be combined to convert to a full-size bed. First Class guests will also enjoy electrically adjustable window blinds, a state-of-the-art entertainment system with 24” digital displays, and a personal wardrobe space. Guests traveling in First and Business Class cabins will receive amenity kits featuring products from Salvatore Ferragamo and Clarins.
 
China Eastern Airlines provides First and Business Class guests with an Eastern Sky Chef Gourmet in the Air menu featuring healthy and delectable cuisine tailor designed and supervised by the culinary team of Le Royal Meridien Shanghai. Guests have the choice of Chinese or Western style dishes and the menu changes seasonally. Guests will also enjoy freshly brewed coffee as well as freshly cooked rice from the on-board rice cookers.
