Penn State Football: Caedan Wallace Drafted in Third Round by New England Patriots

Penn State continued to leave its mark during the ongoing NFL Draft as offensive tackle Caedan Wallace was picked up No. 68 overall by the New England Patriots during the third round on Friday night.

Following Olu Fashanu’s selection at No. 11 in the first round by the New York Jets, Wallace is the second Penn State offensive lineman picked in this draft. Center Hunter Nourzad is expected to go later in the draft.

Wallace had been a staple of Penn State’s offensive front dating all the way back to 2020, when he made seven starts before becoming even more of an anchor for the Nittany Lions in the trenches over the course of the next several seasons. In 2023, Wallace was named an All-Big Ten Honorable Mention and left Penn State with 40 starts under his belt, nearly twice as many as Fashanu.

Penn State is expected to have an upwards of 10 players drafted over the course of the three day event, a figure that would tie the Nittany Lions’ highest-ever total, set in 1996, and mark the highest under James Franklin, which was previously set at eight in 2022. Wallace’s teammates in the trenches, offensive tackle Fashanu and defensive end Chop Robinson, who was picked up at No. 21 by the Miami Dolphins on Thursday, are Penn State’s headliners this draft cycle.
