Woman charged in store robbery

A woman has been arrested in relation to a robbery reported at a local Family Dollar, according to Laredo police.

Jessie Ortega was charged with robbery, a second degree felony.

The case unfolded at about 2:26 p.m. April 23 at the store in the 3600 block of North Arkansas Avenue.

According to police, Ortega attempted to steal $25 worth of unpaid items.

When an employee confronted her, she punched the employee. She was arrested shortly after, according to police.
