DeLand man charged with shoplifting on Thanksgiving

The following information was compiled from incident reports filed with Flagler County Sheriff's Office and Flagler Beach and Bunnell police departments. Any suspects named are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.

 PALM COAST — A DeLand man was being held in the Flagler County jail after being arrested for shoplifting on Thanksgiving Day.

According to a Flagler County Sheriff's Office report, Troy E. Mixon, North Florida Avenue, DeLand, was seen by a Kohl's loss-prevention employee leaving the store without paying for merchandise valued at more than $100. The Kohl's employee followed Mixon to the parking lot and identified himself to Mixon, and Mixon reportedly dropped the merchandise and fled in a white vehicle.

The Kohl's employee reported Mixon's vehicle tag and deputies stopped him on U.S. 1 in Bunnell.

Mixon is being held on a charge of shoplifting/retail theft and two active warrants from Volusia County. No bail information was available Tuesday.

BUNNELL

n A County Road 13 resident reported her purse was stolen from her unlocked vehicle on Nov. 24.

n On Nov. 22, a resident of County Road 75 was charged with battery domestic violence.

n A Hibiscus Street resident reported power tools stolen from an unlocked trailer on Nov. 22.

PALM COAST

n Deputies responded on Nov. 27 to a physical altercation between a Llowick Court resident and his son during a dispute over steaks.

n A shopper at Target on State Road 100 reported her driver's license and bank cards stolen from her unlocked vehicle on Nov. 27.

n A Willow Trace resident on Nov. 27 reported pavers and stone stolen from his yard overnight.

n An Armand Beach Drive resident reported his unlocked vehicle was burglarized on Nov. 27.

n The Sheriff's Office received a report on Nov. 26 of a road rage incident involving a firearm at Palm Coast Parkway and Boulder Rock Drive. Because of conflicting statements and a lack of witnesses, there was no arrest.

n Charges were forwarded to the State Attorney's Office on Nov. 26 after deputies received a report of a 10-year-old being hit with a golf cart. There were conflicting statements and no witnesses.

n A Via Capri resident was charged with battery domestic violence on Nov. 26.

n On Nov. 26, a Rosecroft Lane resident was charged with battery domestic violence after biting his wife and squeezing her hand because she was on his side of the bed.

n A Lake Success Drive resident reported merchandise delivered to his front porch that was stolen on Nov. 26.

n Deputies received a report on Nov. 26 that a man's locked bicycle was stolen while he was in Publix on Belle Terre Parkway.

n On Nov. 25, deputies received a report from a man who was contacted as he was leaving a business at Flagler Plaza by two men who sold him what appeared to be a new home theater system. When he got home, the man discovered the home theater system was not what he was told it would be.

n Four juveniles were seen stealing items from Kohl's on Nov. 25; they were later stopped at Belle Terre Parkway and Pine Lakes Parkway South and found to be juveniles who had run away from a group home in Orange County.

n A woman was charged with battery domestic violence and criminal mischief on Nov. 25 after a physical altercation with her sister. Both sisters live in a Parkview Drive residence.

n A family riding their bicycles on the trails at Malacompra Park on Nov. 25 called deputies when their 8-year-old daughter became separated from the group and could not be located. She was later found by another relative.

n A fire caused by a dryer at a Ryder Drive residence on Nov. 25 was extinguished with minimal damage to the home.

n An unlocked vehicle at a Randolph Drive residence was reportedly burglarized on Nov. 24.

n A resident of Wheeler Place on Nov. 23 reported her front door kicked in.

n A purse and wallet were reported stolen from a vehicle on Shady Oaks Drive on Nov. 22.
